About Dipro OD 500 Tablet Dipro OD 500 Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called anticonvulsants or antiepileptics, used to treat epilepsy (seizures/fits). It is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat complex partial seizures (which affect only one side of the brain and cause impaired consciousness), whether they occur alone or alongside other types of seizures. Epilepsy is a sudden rush of electricity in the brain. In epilepsy, the brain’s electrical rhythms become imbalanced, resulting in recurrent seizures. The name Dipro OD 500 Tablet contains ‘Divalproex sodium,’ which works by increasing the levels of a natural brain chemical called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This helps reduce excessive and abnormal nerve activity in the brain, producing a calming effect. Therefore, Dipro OD 500 Tablet helps control seizures. Take Dipro OD 500 Tablet with or without food. You are advised to take Dipro OD 500 Tablet as prescribed by your doctor, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, back pain, increased appetite, constipation, diarrhoea, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of its contents, have significant liver disease or dysfunction, or have urea cycle disorders. Do not stop taking Dipro OD 500 Tablet without consulting your doctor, as this may worsen seizures. Avoid taking Dipro OD 500 Tablet if you are pregnant, as it may cause severe birth defects. Consult your doctor before using Dipro OD 500 Tablet if you are breastfeeding. Dipro OD 500 Tablet should be given to children only if prescribed by your doctor.
